WAKEFIELD PARK JUNE 30 2008
Round 3 of the NSW SUPERKART CLUB championship was held at Wakefield Park on Sunday 29th June. Marvellous is probably a word that sums up the day.
The event started earlier for Horswell Racing though as we made a weekend of
it in Goulburn. With a bit of relaxation watching the dragons beat the
titans we then headed into town to meet up with our friends from Hyperracer
for dinner and a few laughs. It was great catching up with Crookey, Deano,
Wicksie, Paddy, Shaun, Chris and Gary again. With an hourish intermission
after dinner while Crookey found a woolies for supplies, we returned to our
hotel to enjoy the warmth, dam it was cold... Then off to the Hyper
residence for a few more laughs, and it was a laugh to walk in the door and
see all huddling around the heaters to keep warm. We headed off around
10.00pm to
head
back to the warmth of our hotel room. Up at 6.00am Sunday morning we loaded
the car and headed to the track, still dam cold though.
This was a special meeting for NSW as AKA and non licence holders were welcome to enter. With 15 maxes making an appearance, it must be said that all drivers showed exceptional behaviour on the track, with maybe only 1 light touch throughout the whole day. When you consider the higher speeds of Superkarting, the longer braking distances that are required, I can only say congratulations to all. From a few emails I've had after this event, the guys who came to have a try are still smiling.
Once again Deano was a standout from Hyperracer taking 2 wins and a 2nd. Wicksie had a great day for 2nd overall. AKA licence holder David Brand once again showed he's no slouch on the long circuit coming home in 3rd. My good friend Alan Dodge finished the day 4th overall after a bad run in race 1. You have to wonder what might have been for Alan if race 1 was like 2 and 3. Me, I had a shocker!! Back to the drawing board to sort out a few dramas before round 4.
There was excitement about the day as channel tens RPM show was on hand
filming and interviewing our new club member Maddy Blair, be sure to watch
this coming Sunday.

PS: anyone wish they had've made this great day and didn't., How about trying the long circuit on 19th July 2008 at Wakefield. The NSW superkart club will be back there for a practice day, over 100 laps, demonstration runs, check the advert on my site, got a question, drop me an email, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
